What tips would you offer a new broker interested in selling Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans? I would ask them to make sure they know the specifics of each plan they are marketing. Since plans offer different benefits, they would want to make sure they are not creating an expectation that cannot be fulfilled by the plan. Everyone has different needs, it’s our role to make sure they are properly addressed and taken care of.
What do you like best out Ambetter plans? Ambetter provides the most competitive pricing across the markets they serve in. When you are comparing the value and benefits Ambetter offers against the competition, it’s a no-brainer on which company shines the most!
What Ambetter plan features resonate best with your clients? i.e.- My Health Pays program, rates, network, etc.: Aside from having the most competitive price around, clients love the “My Health Pays program.” I always talk about the benefits of this program during my phone call and you can literally hear the excitement in their voice! In my opinion, it has become the “icing on the cake” way to close a deal.
How do you generate new leads? Referrals and internet based leads! After being in the business for over 15 years and priding myself on exceptional customer service, over 85% of my business is referral based. There is nothing better than hearing a prospect call in and tell me they were referred by both former and current clients. It’s literally an instant close from that point on!
How do you ensure your clients make their binder payment? At the time of application, I offer them the ability to make their initial payment and make use of the autopay option. If they are unable due to various reasons, I take the time to send out reminders by text message and call them directly to avoid further delays.
What would you like to see more issuers do in the ACA market or add to the market for the next open enrollment season? I would like to see more issuers expand their products into new markets. The more availability of products and services, the more competitive benefits and pricing will become. The reemergence of the PPO network directory for individual plans would also be a huge bonus. In addition, the continuance of keeping compensation levels equitable ensures that agents are compensated for their hard work and efforts during the most challenging time of the year.
